Aft Island Clans
Oofie Clan
The Oofies who live and work in these waters must often dive to check on the aquatic animals. This sport has developed into not only a necessary component in their jobs, but also a fun pastime. On dives, Oofies often discover not only glorious underwater corals and pearls, but also gems that have fallen from the Joofie’s caves and settled into the depths of the lake. Bi-annually the Oofies hold diving competitions where members of the clan can win fabulous prizes.
One of the most celebrated and titled divers is Wanda Oofie-Floofie, a lovably scatterbrained and ditzy Oofie, who was born on August 13th, 2011. She joined the rest of the Oofie clan in their magnificent underwater dome, where she soon took up pearl diving. She is credited with the discovery of the first purple pearl ever! Wanda’s biggest contribution to her clan is the item she finds on her epic dives. She’s of the opinion that gets her out of doing other “chores” like doing the dishes (or any other kind of housework.)
Instead, when not diving, she can be found shopping for hours at a time at her favorite boutiques, which are run by members of the Woofie Clan. Her lovely purple velvet flowers were found on just such a shopping spree! In the center of these pretty flowers, Wanda has inserted pearls she found on one of her many dives.
Along with being a shopoholic, Wanda loves movies. Her favorite genre is romantic comedy, the gushier the better, but she’ll never say no to “Bambi”.
Wanda is generally a good eater, but she despises pickles with a passion saying they’re “cucumbers soaked in evil”.
Voofie Clan
In the center of the lake at the aft of Floo is another island. The animal-loving Voofies can be found there, at their Headquarters and Pet Emporium. They act as veterinarians to all the above ground creatures of Floo.
The Voofies can communicate with their animal friends telepathically, using their earlike appendages as antennae. Out of kindness to the animals, their Pet Emporium is cageless, so they employ their power of telepathy to prevent chaos. The Voofies also use this power to pair up animals with their perfect Floofie owner.
Dennis Voofie-Floofie is a major trickster, just like his namesake, Dennis the Menace. He came out of the Well of Imagination on August 13th, 2011 and has been playing pranks on the other Voofies ever since! He has an immensely vast and impressive collection of whoopee cushions, which he prizes above all things. His collection consists of 774 unique whoopee cushions, but he hopes to soon find 3 more so he can have 777, his lucky number. Dennis has a big, colorful personality that matches his vibrant polka dotted exterior.
The animals he cares for, flightless birds, such as penguins, ostriches, emus, and cassowaries, are always thrilled to see Dennis coming. And although he likes his little Kiwi birds, he can’t abide kiwi fruit because of the texture. It is his most cherished dream to meet a Dodo, but them being extinct poses a bit of a problem. He hopes the Doofie scientists will come up with a way of recreating them in the near future. He enjoys caring for the flightless birds because they can’t escape his pranks. If you’ve never seen an ostrich try to stick it’s head in the sand and instead land on a whoopee cushion, you’ve never really laughed.
After a long day of caring for the animals and playing tricks on his friends, Dennis loves to sit down with a big bowl of Mac N Cheese. Sometimes his friends slip kiwi in the pasta to get back at him for playing tricks on them. He doesn’t enjoy tricks quite so much when they happen to him!
Peggy Voofie-Floofie- On June 5th, 2017, there was a special addition to the colorful, brightly patterned populace of Floo. Out of the vibrant waters of the Well of Imagination sprung a pitch-black Floofie, gilded with golden accents. The assembled crowd gasped, knowing that when the residual waters from the Well were washed off, this Floofie would be striking indeed, in pure black and gold.
However, when the waters were dried off, a patch of color remained that could not be scrubbed off no matter how hard anyone tried. It seemed that Peggy, which the new Floofie introduced herself as, was branded with the waters from which she sprung.
This “horn” birthmark, as the other Voofies began calling her mark, turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to Peggy. Among the many, many creatures at the Voofie Pet Emporium were a few that shied away from interaction with the maintaining clan. One such creature was the unicorn…before Peggy, that is. Her hornlike marking put the magical creatures at ease, allowing her to interact with them and make them more comfortable with other Floofies as well. Peggy uses this power to benefit the entire island, as now all of Floo can be graced with Unicorn Magic.
Loofie Clan
Near the lake at the aft of Floo is a dense rainforest, home to the naturalist Loofies in their outpost headquarters. This outpost, made of recycled and recyclable materials, changes with the environment and season. Since the outpost is made of all-natural stuffs, the Loofies bring back new building supplies for their headquarters to replace those that have been eaten by local wildlife, eroded, or otherwise reclaimed. Since most of the things the Loofies bring back have to be light enough to carry, the outpost is a sparkling, colorful array of butterfly wings, feathers and flowers with the odd colored pebble thrown in. This mish-mash of elements makes a perfect home for the easily distracted Loofies.
Even though this colorful building is lovely and environmentally friendly, the structure isn’t exactly practical. The lack of support in the walls and ceilings cause frequent collapses. To prevent further cave-ins, the Loofies try out various forms of structural support, but none of them do that well. Wood attracts termites, they can’t move stones big enough, and they don’t want to put anything unnatural, like steel, into their home.
Tommy Loofie-Floofie- One day, a clever young Loofie, Tommy, made a discovery. He was stopping by a Yoofie construction sight when he saw a yellowish white stone in the ground. Upon further inspection, he realized it wasn’t a stone at all, but a giant dinosaur bone! He quickly excavated his find and discovered a whole dinosaur skeleton, along with some extra loose bones. The dinosaur skeleton was put together and sent to the Doofies’ Lab for further study. But Tommy thought of a great use for the other bones. He sent them back to his Loofie tribe to use as permanent supports in their walls.
Tommy has now dedicated his time towards figuring out why the heck a dinosaur skeleton was on a floating island in the first place!
Tristan Loofie-Floofie is as eclectic and crazy as his outpost home. He sprung from the well on September 1st 2011, and was soon rushed to the rainforest to meet his clan. At that time there was a problem with disorganization and poor record keeping within the Loofie’s headquarters since there was no one Loofie interested in documenting all their finds. They all just wanted to be out in the field discovering cool stuff.
Tristan was the hero of the day when he offered to become the official Loofie archivist. He was particularly well suited to this job because he much enjoys reading obscure texts. He is also fluent in many of Earth’s languages, living and dead. Tristan manages to solve nearly any problem that comes his way with good humor and a twinkle in his eye. The Loofie clan usually sends their youngest members to hang out with Tristan for a few days, because he is able to help them stay on track which a unique trait among the Loofies.
While documenting finds and sorting through records, Tristan savors fruit roll-ups. But he can’t stand it when other people eat roll-ups in the movies because the snack makes so much dang noise when it peels off the backing!
