Under Island Clans

Doofie Clan

The Doofie Clan keeps their science lab headquarters in the tunnels within the island. These brilliant minds like to tackle large projects and find solutions to scientific problems. Their labyrinthine laboratory is brightened by skylights and special luminescent plants and minerals that the Goofie Clan have artistically embedded into special niches as a thank you to the Doofies who created special formulas for paint in colors not yet discovered on Earth.

Members of the Doofie Clan have also discovered a special paper alternative for the news-writing clan – the Xaloofies; how to extract the most flavor from flowers for the baking clan – the Throofies; and better ways to harness the power of lightning bolts for the Zoofies. Doofies are always coming up with something! They just can’t turn their big brains off. That’s why the Doofies are so amused that humans used their triangular shape for “dunce caps” – these three-sided scientists are as far from dunces as you can get!

Stuart Doofie-Floofie was born on September 6, 2012, smiling a goofy smile and laughing brightly. He was quickly moved to the Doofie Headquarters where he made immediate friends with every one there. Whenever he runs into a new friend, he asks them an intriguing riddle or poses a perplexing puzzle – which are activities most Doofies regard as enjoyable. Stuart just adores solving quandaries and breaking codes and playing games that require a lot of mental exertion. So he decided to apply his fascination with puzzles and riddles to the creation of computer programs and video games.

Stuart’s video games are quite complex and artistic, and are each characterized by his signature style of including many concealed levels. Astute players of his games will often find secret entrances to additional challenges where they are least expected. But the players have to be careful of disguised traps! Another quirk that makes his games unique is the hidden tiger motifs on every level. Players that find every tiger can be assured that they are expert gamers!

Bitsy Doofie-Floofie is particularly small for a Floofie, though her size does not affect her personality or brainpower. In fact, when Bitsy first sprung out of the Well of Imagination, her spots seemed too big for her body! She eventually grew into her dots, but Bitsy never got to be very big, despite the fact that everyone expected a Floofie with such overwhelming charm to develop a large size to suit her nature.

Bitsy's specialty within her clan’s area of expertise is Chemistry. She especially loves making perfumes. The Eshfoofie clan sometimes gives her exotic flowers to experiment with in her concoctions. She is quite proud all her fragrances, but enjoys the flower ones most of all. Her favorite of these scents is, by far, Eau de Frangipani, which she says smells almost buttery.

Bitsy absolutely adores candy dots and she giggles non-stop whenever anyone compares her own polka dots to the candy! If you are lucky enough to adopt this little Floofie, be careful not to expose her to vinegar, because she is highly allergic and will develop hives which clash horribly with her polka dots.

Hoofie Clan

In the cloudy bottom of Floo resides the Hoofie Clan. They use the energy generated by the Zaloofies to convert the waterfall, which is flowing over the edge of Floo from the Oofie’s lake into clouds. To keep the lake full, every night the Hoofies send back the clouds that are close to precipitation to empty back into the lake. It’s a perfect water cycle!

These clouds created by the Hoofies are vital to the Island. Their fluffy mask conceals the existence of Floo from the inhabitants of the planet below. The clouds also keep Floo floating and aid in locomotion.

Even though their job is so important, Hoofies are not what you’d expect. Hoofies are usually rather spacey and vague. They’re known for just trailing off in the middle of sentences and then just floating off in another direction. Luckily they can create clouds even when they are thinking about that other thing they like to think about.

Lulu Hoofie-Floofie is one of the more “all there” Hoofies. She enjoys looking down at the exotic locales Floo passes over. If she thinks that their current position is too boring she likes to play a game. She scours the world below for places they’ve never before hovered over and she steers Floo in that direction without any other Hoofie noticing. It’s really not that hard of a game. When another Hoofie-Floofie senses that something is awry, Lulu distracts them with a shiny object.

In her spare time she goes around finishing her fellow Hoofie’s sentences and correcting everyone’s grammatical and factual errors. She is very busy doing this, because there are a lot of Hoofie-Floofies who need correction. She very much enjoys eating prunes, which is sometimes a problem, because they give her gas. Another of her culinary oddities is the urge to spread catsup over everything, even things she eats. Catsup and prunes…. Mmmmmm!

Zoofie Clan

The pristine cloud layer of Floo is home to the Zoofies. The Zoofies harvest lighting bolts to provide power for navigation of the island and the inhabitants of Floo. These clouds are created by recycling the water than cascades off the side of the island from the Oofies’ lake. This happens in a process sort of like a reverse water cycle. The water falls of the side of the island, and it is harvested into clouds. When the clouds condense enough to turn back into liquid, the water is sent back into the lake. The Zoofies not only control this process, but they also harvest electricity from nearby clouds. This electricity turns into the power used to power all aspects of Floo, especially navigation.

The Zoofies are an exciting bunch. They always have electricity crackling through their spikes, and are constantly energetic. A tired Zoofie is a rare sight, and an upset one is even rarer. These zany creatures float around incredibly swiftly, and always have huge grins on their faces.

Kayla Zoofie-Floofie- On August 7, 2012, a new Zoofie zapped out of the Well of Imagination. Her name was Kayla and she turned out to be one of the perkiest Zoofies Floo had ever seen. She always carries a bit of the Well of Imagination with her since her rainbow eyebrows contain all the colors of the Spring of Being.

Within minutes of arriving in the cloud Headquarters of her Zoofie clan, Kayla impressed her clanmates with her chipper and happy energy. They knew she would fit right in. Kayla just loves her job. She spends hours in the clouds, collecting water and electricity to power Floo, but she gets easily distracted by the rainbows on the planet below! Looking through those rainbows makes the world look like it has been sprinkled with colorful fairy dust.

Kayla’s favorite snack is cotton candy, which she likes to eat at all times, day and night. It reminds her of her beloved fluffy, cloudy home. You can often find Kayla visiting the electric eels in the lake, to whom she sneaks bits of her cotton candy.
