Moofie Clan

On the port side of the island, Moofies roam the grasslands tending to their flocks. A giant red barn sits on one edge of the fields.  This is the clan’s Headquarters.  Moofies have a special affinity for farm animals and they spend their days making sure the animals have everything they need.  Moofies would never think of butchering their animals, since all the Floofies don’t eat meat! Floofies do eat eggs and dairy, however.

If you swing by their big red barn, you’ll see Moofies collecting eggs, milking cows and shearing sheep.  But you’ll probably notice that some things are a little strange.  Moofie animals are a bit, well, unique. They raise not only common milk cows and white and black sheep, but also cows that produce flavored milk and sheep with wool in many colors and patterns!

Harvey Moofie-Floofie is one Moofie who cares for such unusual animals. He moseyed on down to join his farming clan on August 17, 2011.  Harvey showed bright promise at the farm, figuring out how to raise milk cows that were not only quite happy, but also gave unusual flavors such as: pomegranate, huckleberry and mint. Along with a glass of his cows’ milk, he enjoys a heapin’ pile of tater tots for supper.

Harvey’s straw hat protects him from sunburn (Floofies can get them too) when tending his creatures.  It is a gift from members of the Woofie clan.  Seemed Harvey did the Woofie’s a big favor by saving some of their newly designed clothes from his hungry cows.  He also has a collection of neck-kerchiefs that help him look dapper as he joins in with the Groofie band during their monthly square dancing shindigs.  His specialty is playing the jugs.  There is never a dry eye when he gets to tooting patriotic songs like "Floo is My Place of Residence" and "I Left My Heart on Mount Mawoopa."

Tulsa Moofie-Floofie waltzed out of the Well of Imagination on February 4, 2012.  He was clearly a born dancer.  From his first moment on the Mountain he was twirling and grooving to music no one else could hear.  Moving normally just wasn’t normal for him.

However, dancing didn’t exactly translate to caring for livestock at first.  His animals would stop and stare while he practiced a new move, and it became an issue because the animals wouldn’t be herded where they needed to go.  They were just too enthralled with Tulsa.  Head Moofies were concerned, and several meetings were held.  But Tulsa just couldn’t stop dancing – any style would do…tango, foxtrot, jazz, belly, hula.  Tulsa loved them all.

Meanwhile, since livestock wouldn’t respond to traditional herding techniques, the other Moofies began to become perplexed.  But Tulsa had an idea.  Instead of the boring old ways of herding animals he decided to try it his way.  By dancing circles around the creatures he found he could move them wherever they needed to go – in fact he cut herding time in half! Strangely, Tulsa discovered different animals respond better to different dance styles.  Sheep like ballroom dancing, cows are fondest of ballet, and chickens prefer tap.

Noofie Clan

Far aft, along the port side of Floo, a deep canyon has been carved by the main river of the island.  The steep red-rock walls of the canyon provide a glorious backdrop as well as perfect acoustics for the Noofies who have their clan headquarters and many performance stages there.  The Noofies are quite a dramatic clan, which makes sense, seeing as they’re the actors on the island.  They also appear in movies and are occasionally asked to make speeches. The Noofies have a special talent where each one can produce at least five different accents which helps bring variety and interest to their shows.

Jack-Jaques Noofie-Floofie- On August 7, 2012 a new little Noofie-Floofie debuted from the colorful waters of the Spring of Being.  He was destined to bring even more diversity to the Noofie clan.  Jack-Jacques is unlike any other Floofie known to the island.  Remarkably, he is two-faced.  And we mean that literally.  He has two faces.  Along with these two faces come two completely different personalities, which makes Jack-Jacques just a little bit bipolar - in a good way.

A side affect of this condition is that he carries on conversations with himself. Since his personalities are so different, Jack-Jacques is often in disagreement. Unfortunately, he always loses these quarrels. But that’s ok since he also always wins.  The Noofies have discovered that Jack and Jacques have opposing opinions on just about everything, big and small. Take ice cream - Jack’s favorite flavor is chocolate, which he likes to enjoy in a waffle cone with sprinkles.  Jacques refuses to even eat ice cream, let alone the sprinkles!

But every Noofie will tell you, that Jack-Jacques is a valuable member of their clan because he can play both comedic and dramatic roles - sometimes in the same production. They both agree that a highpoint of their career was when Jack played Mercutio and Jacques played Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet (which was really hard to pull off!)

Throofie Clan

In the rolling farmlands nestled gently between the mountain ranges of the Astroofie’s tower and Mt. Mawoopa, on the port side of Floo, lies the Throofie headquarters. Embraced by swaying stalks of the Island’s finest wheat, the Throofie headquarters resembles Willy Wonka’s factory, pumping out the smell of vanilla day and night. The hardworking Throofies that choose to stay at home bustle from counter to oven, perfecting their culinary masterpieces. This giant bakery is a sight to behold, with piles of sweets on every surface, delicious smells filling the air, and the colorful Throofies bleached with flour zipping about.

Sprinkles Throofie-Floofie- Though many Throofies decide to leave home and set up their own bakeries after finishing their apprenticeships, Sprinkles Throofie Floofie always felt most at home in the cozy atmosphere of the Throofie Headquarters, ever since he joined his clan on June 19, 2011. During his apprenticeship with the master bakers of Floo, Sprinkles felt a strong draw to one specific element of baking - decorating!

Though his appearance is simple and sweet, Sprinkles is able to construct beautiful, complex structures out of frosting and sugar. Even though his personal favorite ingredient to use is, of course, colorful sprinkles, he has managed to add color to dishes using many different elements. Working with flowers, fondant, and feathers, Sprinkles once made an entire peacock to top a wedding cake - one so realistic that a Voofie tried to wrangle it!

His complex designs require materials and references from all over the island, and therefore Sprinkles has many friends from all the different clans. His friendly, bubbly personality helps him make these connections, but perhaps not as much as his habit of bringing a dozen donuts with him wherever he goes, and sharing them with any new friends!

Eshoofie Clan

Bridget Eshfoofie-Floofie sprang out of the Well of Imagination on August 31, 2011!  Everyone who saw her, knew she was going to be a real 'girly' Floofie.  She settled right in among the peonies in the meadows outside her clan's greenhouse headquarters, and even took to wearing a few on her head.

However, no one knew that she was going to be a big lover of mudpuddles.  She just can't stay away.  Bridget started out by making elaborate mud pies, but soon graduated to making sculptures of little leprchauns.  She lets these little guys bake in the sun and then leaves them around the gardens for the other Eshfoofies to find.

Poofie Clan

On the port side of the floating island is a dramatic desert, with rolling dunes of sparkling soft sand and succulent plants, such as cacti, eternally in vibrant bloom.  In the midst of this sea of Zen-like splendor rises an impressive University, built with desert stones and columned trellises.  Here lives the teaching Clan known as Poofies.  They chose the desert location for their headquarters of learning because they knew this climate would be good for their legendary library.

It’s a good thing they have such an amazing library, because the Poofies just love to learn!  They are constantly discussing, examining and reading about new ideas.  They feel compelled to share their vast knowledge with the other islanders but they do so with good humor and entertaining techniques – which make them simply fabulous teachers.  You’ll find at least one Poofie living in each of the 27 Clan Headquarters, usually helping with the training of newly sprung Floofies.

Marian Poofie-Floofie- One especially charming Poofie is Marian.  She burst from the Well of Imagination on July 1, 2011 wearing a circlet of eight roses.  This represents not only her favorite number, but also her obvious affection for roses of all colors. Marian keeps a lovely rose garden for everyone to enjoy in the Poofie Clan’s greenhouse at the University.  While tending her flowers, she hums show tunes, her favorite of which come from the “Music Man”.  She’ll sing anything with her melodious voice, but you’ll never hear her rapping!

Marian has taken her love of music and used it to become one of the most celebrated music teachers on Floo.  She is often seen in the Groofie’s treetop commune, playing instruments and singing with the little musicians found there.  Marian travels to the Noofie’s canyon to help the musical director of their theatrical performances.

If that wasn’t enough, Marian also happens to be a wonderful knitter.  She finds it calms her active brain and allows her creative, musical mind time to recharge.  She most enjoys making afghans, and has a knack for incorporating roses and secret musical notations into the designs.
